About the Role:
The Stephen James Partnership is seeking a highly skilled Senior Competition Counsel and Lawyer to join our Group's legal team. As a trusted legal adviser and business partner, you will support on a range of competition and regulatory matters across the Group.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on legal and strategic projects, providing UK and EU competition and regulatory law advice to stakeholders across the business.
- Identify and develop ways competition and regulatory law can be used to drive strategic business growth.
- Engage with external stakeholders, including customers, regulatory bodies, and competition authorities, on competition and regulatory law matters.
- Lead teams in providing legal advice on contentious competition and regulatory matters, achieving the best business outcomes.
- Advise on the merits of litigating against regulatory bodies and third parties, and initiate and run cases before the Courts and other tribunals.
- Manage and deliver against budget for competition and regulatory law cases, including litigation.
- Develop and implement training programs on competition law and best practice documents.
- Manage cross-functional projects, supervise junior team members, drive performance improvements, and coordinate with the Commitments Assurance Office to ensure governance adherence.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of post-qualification experience, ideally with E&W qualification.
- Experience working on competition and regulatory matters.
- Experience in supporting advisory and contentious competition/regulatory matters.
- Previous direct or indirect supervision of junior members (ideal).
- Happy to consider candidates with experience supporting competition matters from a regulator or already within an in-house legal team.
