Position Overview

The role involves delivering exceptional patient care while actively engaging in the assessment, execution, and review of the care requirements for the designated patient demographic.

The individual in this position will be expected to perform necessary care procedures independently and contribute to the education of peers.

An integral part of this role includes participating in the ongoing enhancement of the surgical department and engaging in initiatives and transformations as they arise.

The candidate will be required to operate in two areas of surgical practice, including Anaesthetics, and show a willingness to pursue additional training.

Key Responsibilities

PROFESSIONAL

To consistently adhere to the relevant professional conduct guidelines. To ensure that the care provided to patients is executed in a professional, respectful, and empathetic manner, acknowledging the diverse cultural backgrounds of colleagues, clients, and visitors. To foster effective communication and collaboration among theatre staff and other healthcare professionals. To enhance and update knowledge regarding current advancements and future trends in peri-operative practices. To support a positive learning atmosphere for all staff levels and engage in mentoring of students.

CLINICAL

To demonstrate proficiency in specialized care within the surgical environment. To maintain accurate and legible documentation in accordance with the standards set by the NMC and HCPC. To comply with organizational policies regarding information governance. To manage controlled substances responsibly and understand the protocol for addressing discrepancies. To actively participate in the education and mentoring of students and junior staff members. To undertake tasks that fall within the scope of practice and adhere to professional conduct codes. To assist anaesthetists with regional anaesthetic procedures as required.

Registration with NMC / HCPC. Ability to collaborate effectively within a team. Strong understanding of accountability. Demonstrated knowledge of current practices. Ability to operate within the NMC / HCPC professional conduct framework. Capability to function in a high-pressure environment. Proficient communication skills in written, verbal, and IT formats. Effective time management skills. Willingness to acquire new skills. Dual role encompassing Anaesthetics and Recovery. Familiarity with the Trust's values and ability to exemplify them. Professional demeanor in interactions with staff, patients, and visitors.

Desirable

Awareness of developments and changes within the NHS. Understanding of research and audit processes.
