Chief Medical Officer (CMO) - Oncology Specialist

Location: Remote (EU)

Hours: 20 hours per week - 12 Month Contract

Type: Interim / Freelance

We are collaborating with a prominent biotechnology firm in the EU that is pioneering advancements in the field of Oncology. Their objective is to improve patient outcomes through innovative research and clinical trials, particularly focusing on First-in-Human (FIH) studies. They are in search of a highly qualified and committed Chief Medical Officer to join their ranks on a part-time, remote basis. The CMO will be instrumental in steering our clinical development initiatives, concentrating on various cancer types. This role necessitates an oncologist with extensive experience in executing FIH trials. The CMO will deliver strategic medical and scientific direction, ensuring compliance with the highest standards of clinical practice and regulatory mandates.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Direct the clinical development framework for oncology programs, emphasizing FIH trials.
  2. Manage the design, execution, and oversight of clinical trials, guaranteeing compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
  3. Offer medical and scientific insights to interdisciplinary teams, including research, regulatory, and commercial sectors.
  4. Act as the primary medical liaison in communications with regulatory bodies, key opinion leaders, and clinical researchers.
  5. Ensure participant safety and well-being through meticulous monitoring and assessment of clinical data.
  6. Contribute to the formulation of clinical trial protocols, informed consent documents, and other regulatory submissions.
  7. Engage with external collaborators and stakeholders to promote clinical research initiatives and foster innovation.
  8. Keep updated on the latest developments in oncology to inform and guide clinical strategies.
Qualifications
  • MD or equivalent medical qualification with board certification in Oncology.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and conducting FIH trials.
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and guidelines pertaining to clinical trials and drug development.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capacity to work autonomously and efficiently in a remote environment.
  • Proven capability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and external partners.
