Chief Medical Officer (CMO) - Oncology Specialist

Location: Remote (EU)
Hours: 20 hours per week - 12 Month Contract
Type: Interim / Freelance

We are collaborating with a leading biotechnology firm dedicated to advancing innovative treatments in the field of Oncology. Their objective is to improve patient outcomes through groundbreaking research and clinical trials, particularly focusing on First-in-Human (FIH) studies. They are in search of a highly qualified and committed Chief Medical Officer to join their team on a part-time, remote basis.

The Chief Medical Officer will be instrumental in steering our clinical development initiatives with an emphasis on various cancer types. This role necessitates an oncologist with a solid history of executing FIH trials. The CMO will deliver strategic medical and scientific guidance, ensuring compliance with the highest standards of clinical practice and regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct the clinical development strategy for oncology programs, concentrating on FIH trials.
  • Supervise the design, execution, and management of clinical trials, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
  • Provide medical and scientific insights to interdisciplinary teams, including research, regulatory, and commercial sectors.
  • Act as the primary medical liaison in communications with regulatory bodies, key opinion leaders, and clinical researchers.
  • Safeguard the health and safety of trial participants through thorough monitoring and assessment of clinical data.
  • Contribute to the formulation of clinical trial protocols, informed consent documents, and other regulatory submissions.
  • Collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to promote clinical research initiatives and foster innovation.
  • Stay updated on the latest developments in oncology to inform and guide clinical strategies.
Qualifications:
  • MD or equivalent medical degree with board certification in Oncology.
  • Proven experience in leading and conducting FIH trials.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and guidelines pertaining to clinical trials and drug development.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capacity to work independently and efficiently in a remote environment.
  • Demonstrated capability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and external partners.
