Chief Medical Officer (CMO) - Oncology Specialist

Location: Remote (EU)

Hours: 20 hours per week - 12 Month Contract

Type: Interim / Freelance

We are collaborating with a prominent biotechnology firm in the EU that is dedicated to advancing innovative treatment solutions in the field of Oncology. Their objective is to improve patient outcomes through groundbreaking research and clinical trials, particularly focusing on First-in-Human (FIH) studies. They are in search of a highly qualified and committed Chief Medical Officer to become part of their team on a part-time, remote basis. The CMO will be instrumental in steering our clinical development initiatives with an emphasis on various cancer types. This role necessitates an oncologist with a distinguished history in executing FIH trials. The CMO will deliver strategic medical and scientific guidance, ensuring compliance with the highest standards of clinical practice and regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Direct the clinical development approach for oncology programs, concentrating on FIH trials.
  2. Manage the design, execution, and implementation of clinical trials, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
  3. Offer medical and scientific insight to interdisciplinary teams, including research, regulatory, and commercial divisions.
  4. Act as the primary medical liaison in discussions with regulatory bodies, key opinion leaders, and clinical researchers.
  5. Guarantee the safety and welfare of trial participants through thorough monitoring and assessment of clinical data.
  6. Assist in the formulation of clinical trial protocols, informed consent documents, and other regulatory submissions.
  7. Collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to promote clinical research initiatives and foster innovation.
  8. Keep updated on the latest developments in oncology to inform and direct clinical strategies.
Qualifications
  • MD or equivalent medical qualification with board certification in Oncology.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and conducting FIH trials.
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements and guidelines pertinent to clinical trials and drug development.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to work autonomously and efficiently in a remote environment.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and external partners.
