Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Personal Education Plan Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and young people in Leeds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement high-quality Personal Education Plans (PEPs) that meet the needs of children and young people in care.
  • Work closely with social workers, foster carers, designated teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure that PEPs are effective in promoting educational attainment and achievement.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of children's learning needs and develop plans to address any gaps or barriers to progress.
  • Provide training and support to schools and services to ensure that they are equipped to meet the needs of children and young people in care.
  • Collaborate with the Virtual School and other agencies to ensure that the needs of children and young people in care are met and that they have access to high-quality education and care.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent experience in education and care.
  • Proven experience of working with children and young people in care, including those with complex needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility.
  • Knowledge of the SEND code of practice and the graduated response.
  • Experience of working with data and information to inform decision-making and improve outcomes.
Desirable Requirements
  • Experience of working in a local authority or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of the statutory function of the Virtual School.
  • Experience of working with children and young people with complex needs, including those with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Ability to use creative thinking and solutions to engage children and young people and families in plans for their learning.
