Specialist Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Nurse to join our team at Great Ormond Street Hospital. As a Specialist Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and support to children and young people with haematological and oncological conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the key worker providing information, clinical advice, and support to children and families with haematological and oncological diagnoses.
- Participate in the clinical preparation and support of children and families with haematological and oncological conditions from diagnosis through to treatment, including discharge planning and follow-up care.
- Act as a resource to families during the treatment period and help facilitate continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient services.
- Liaise with outpatients, funding bodies, and referrals team.
- Regular clinical day shifts on the wards, 2 long days in a 4-weekly rota.
Requirements:
- Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) registered Nurse (on relevant branch).
- Evidence of ongoing dynamic continuing professional development within the speciality linked to demonstrable clinical competencies and level 3 academic study.
- Extensive nursing experience within the speciality.
- Excellent clinical nursing knowledge relevant to speciality.
- Working knowledge of current and new evolving treatment regimes for cancer specialties.
- Understanding of resource management, health and safety, clinical risk, and quality issues.
