About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Nurse Specialist to join our team at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our nursing team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, family-centered care to children and young people with a diverse range of conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- To work as a skilled member of the nursing team, providing a high standard of holistic care to children, young people, and families.
- To plan, assess, implement, and evaluate programs of care for individual children, and to supervise other staff in this activity.
- To communicate effectively at all levels within the multi-disciplinary team, and to promote family-centered care and establish good relationships with children, young people, and their families.
- To be able to take charge of the ward in the absence of senior nursing staff, following achievement of required competence.
- To communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers, and other staff, overcoming any barriers to understanding and providing support during distressing or emotional events.

Person Specification
- Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) registered Nurse or able to join the NMC child branch register for candidates educated outside of the UK.
- Relevant nursing qualification.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development linked to demonstrable competencies.
- Demonstrable experience of having worked with acute/chronically sick children and young people or transferable specialist skills.
- Understanding of professional and current issues in children's nursing.
- Understanding of the importance of research and evidence-based practice.
- Understanding of safeguarding issues according to Trust policies and procedures.
- Understanding and evidence of fulfilling requirements for NMC revalidation.
- Understanding of principles of clinical governance (risk management, audit, quality).
