About the Role

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Consultant Gastroenterologist to join our esteemed team. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional clinical care to patients with gastrointestinal complaints.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide independent care for patients with gastrointestinal issues, working closely with consultant staff.
  • Participate in the gastroenterology on-call rota, ensuring seamless coverage for emergency cases.
  • Develop and implement enhanced clinical skills, particularly in the assessment and management of acutely ill patients.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care and achieve clinical targets.
  • Contribute to the Upper GI/Hepatobiliary Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), driving improved patient outcomes.
  • Engage in quality assurance activities, ensuring adherence to national and local clinical standards.
Requirements
  • Hold a medical degree (MBBS, MB ChB, or equivalent) and be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Be on the GMC Specialist Register via Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
  • Possess excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
