Key Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality patient care, working independently and collaboratively with consultant staff.
- Participate in the gastroenterology on-call rota, ensuring seamless coverage and patient safety.
- Develop and implement enhanced clinical skills, particularly in the assessment and management of acutely ill patients.
- Contribute to the audit and governance processes, supporting the training of junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals.
- Engage in administrative duties, ensuring efficient clinical operations and effective communication with colleagues.
- Participate in the Upper GI/Hepatobiliary Cancer Multidisciplinary Team, driving collaborative care and improving patient outcomes.
- Develop and maintain excellent team-working skills, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
- Meet clinical and quality targets, aligning with national and local priorities.
- Follow patients throughout their clinical pathways, ensuring continuity of care.

Job Plan and ExpectationsA formal job plan will be agreed between the successful candidate and their Clinical Director and consultant colleagues, outlining the consultant's duties, responsibilities, and objectives for the coming year. The job plan will be reviewed annually, ensuring alignment with trust strategic priorities and service improvements.
Person SpecificationEssential Qualifications
- MBBS, MB ChB, or equivalent medical qualification.
- MRCP or equivalent medical qualification.
Desirable Qualifications
- PhD, MD, or evidence of higher education qualification.
Entry Criteria
- Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC).
- Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via one of the following: Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
