About the Role

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Consultant Gastroenterologist to join our esteemed team. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional clinical care to patients with gastrointestinal complaints.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality patient care, working independently and collaboratively with consultant staff.
  • Participate in the gastroenterology on-call rota, ensuring seamless coverage and patient safety.
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans, utilizing your expertise in gastrointestinal care.
  • Contribute to the audit and governance processes, driving quality improvement and excellence in patient care.
  • Support the training and development of junior medical staff, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and growth.
  • Engage in administrative duties, ensuring efficient and effective clinical operations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including the Upper GI/Hepatobiliary Cancer MDT, to deliver comprehensive patient care.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest clinical developments, enhancing your skills and expertise in gastrointestinal care.
  • Develop strong relationships with colleagues, patients, and families, promoting a culture of empathy and understanding.

Job Requirements
  • Hold a medical degree (MBBS, MB ChB, or equivalent) and be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Have MRCP or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Be eligible for entry on the GMC Specialist Register via Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
