Position Overview

We are pleased to announce a unique opportunity for a Child Nutrition Specialist to enhance our esteemed Home Enteral Feeding (HEF) service.

In this role, you will collaborate with the HEF Team Leader and Dietetic Assistant to provide essential services to children within the community, while being affiliated with a leading children's hospital.

Our Paediatric Dietetic team comprises 12 dedicated professionals, specializing in various fields such as Gastroenterology, Neonatology, Cystic Fibrosis, Diabetes, and both specialized inpatient and general outpatient care.

You will be part of a larger team of over 60 dietitians and dietetic assistants, contributing to a comprehensive approach to child nutrition.

We welcome applications from candidates interested in flexible working arrangements, including remote options, allowing for the development of this aspect within the team. Attendance at the main facility for initial orientation and equipment collection will be required. This position is offered as a fixed-term contract, with the potential for permanence based on successful service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

This role involves providing specialized dietetic support to the paediatric Home Enteral Tube Feeding Service. The successful candidate will be a vital member of multidisciplinary teams that assist infants, children, and adolescents, along with their families or caregivers, who are reliant on home tube feeding.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering expert dietetic care for children with diverse medical conditions requiring home tube feeding.
  • Leading the dietetic HEF team in the planning, organization, and execution of care in this specialty.
  • Assisting the paediatric team leader in the provision of children's services.
  • Offering highly specialized dietetic input to support children in need of tube feeding.

Job Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Delivering a comprehensive and high-quality paediatric dietetic service for both inpatients (when applicable) and outpatients, adhering to established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Supporting the development, implementation, and evaluation of dietetic protocols and pathways for infants and children with various specialties.
  • Providing expert advice to dietitians at local, regional, and national levels.
  • Creating and enforcing policies, evidence-based protocols, and guidelines on behalf of the organization.
  • Contributing dietetic expertise to the multidisciplinary team, ensuring a safe, evidence-based, and cost-effective advanced nutrition service for paediatric patients.
  • Maintaining close communication with parents or caregivers, specialty teams, catering staff, nursing and medical personnel, community health professionals, educational institutions, and other stakeholders.

  • HCPC Registered Dietitian

Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in paediatric dietetics within a healthcare setting.
  • Experience as an Enhanced Practitioner in paediatric dietetics, including home enteral feeding.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team, leading decision-making and care coordination.
  • Relevant experience in developing and delivering dietetic services.

Desirable

  • Experience in various clinical environments.
  • Ability to plan workloads for assistants (both dietetic and generic) and provide supervision.
