Glasgow, Glasgow City, United Kingdom Kibble Full time

About Us:

Kibble is a leading organization in Scotland dedicated to providing specialized services for children and young individuals facing various challenges. Our mission is to foster positive outcomes for children aged 5 and above, particularly those with intricate social, emotional, and educational requirements.

Role Overview:

In collaboration with Kibble's Night Service Managers, you will engage with both our Residential and Community Based Services. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety and welfare of our young individuals during the night hours, a time that can be particularly sensitive for them. You will need to possess the necessary skills and expertise to assist our young people during moments of distress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the personal growth of each young individual, while assisting with unit routines and activities alongside unit colleagues.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a designated team, adhering to all Centre and Unit Policies.
  • Engage in the unit's communication processes, whether verbally during staff handovers and meetings, or through written documentation such as log books and case notes.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and ensure confidentiality regarding all information related to young individuals and staff members.
  • Create a secure environment for all young individuals and staff by remaining vigilant, following Health and Safety protocols, and conducting necessary checks on both the young individuals and the unit.
  • Perform any additional relevant tasks as directed by senior staff members.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • A diverse range of life experiences.
  • Ability to establish professional relationships with young individuals and colleagues.
  • Consistent, professional, and non-confrontational demeanor at all times.
  • Basic understanding of the challenges faced by young individuals within Kibble.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Self-awareness and emotional intelligence.
  • Previous experience working with young individuals is preferred.
  • Flexibility in working hours is crucial, as the Centre operates continuously throughout the year.
  • A valid driving license and willingness to operate school transport is advantageous.

Safe Crisis Management Training (SCM):

Candidates selected for this role will need to demonstrate a level of physical fitness necessary for the SCM training. Further details are provided in the notes section below.

Important Notes:

  • This job description outlines the primary tasks and responsibilities of the position; however, Kibble reserves the right to modify the content to reflect changes in the role or services offered, while maintaining the overall responsibilities.
  • All duties must be performed in a manner that promotes equality, dignity, and respect for all individuals, in line with Kibble's equal opportunities policy.
  • Successful candidates will undergo PVG Scheme Membership checks. Previous convictions will not automatically disqualify candidates from employment, except for offenses against children or vulnerable groups, with each case assessed individually.
  • Candidates must complete Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training, which includes two days of theoretical learning and two days of physical training, within four weeks of the agreed start date. Failure to pass any part of the training will result in an additional two weeks to meet the requirements.
