Founded in 1977, Ark currently manages 450 tenancies and supports over 400 individuals through our committed and skilled team of more than 700 professionals. We operate across 12 Local Authority regions in the North and East of Scotland, with additional services in the Western Isles.

The Ark Group comprises three entities:

Ark is a registered charity and social landlord that delivers housing and care services, serving as the parent organization within the group. The second entity is a private company limited by guarantee and a wholly owned subsidiary of Ark. The third entity (ACIL) is a private limited share company and also a wholly owned subsidiary of Ark.

We are currently seeking to appoint Non-Executive Directors to both our main board and subsidiary board during a pivotal period for Ark. As we embark on the second year of our Corporate Strategy, we have established ambitious objectives aimed at expanding and enhancing our operations, supported by a comprehensive set of performance metrics. As a new Board Member, you will play a crucial role in shaping and facilitating the execution of our business plan for the upcoming 5-10 years, while also enhancing our governance framework to effectively oversee performance. This focus will be primarily directed towards delivering high-quality Housing and Care & Support services.

Ark Group Board

We are looking for 2-3 individuals to fill non-executive roles on Ark's parent Board: Ark Housing Association.

This Board convenes 6-7 times annually in a hybrid format, necessitating some in-person attendance. We welcome candidates with experience in Care & Support or Housing/Asset management, and familiarity with governance in a registered social landlord context would be advantageous, though not mandatory.

Ark Subsidiary Board

We aim to enhance our governance by appointing non-executive directors to our Subsidiary Board, which operates independently from the Ark Group Board. This Board will consist of 5 or 6 members and will be chaired by an existing board member from Ark Group. Your responsibilities will include serving both subsidiary companies, with meetings held consecutively four times a year. This Board convenes remotely, providing an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking their first Board position, with exposure to two distinct organizations: one a commercial/private entity and the other a registered charity. We will offer a comprehensive induction and mentorship from an experienced Board member, and prior board experience is not a requirement. Overall, we are in search of dynamic, forward-thinking, and enthusiastic individuals from diverse backgrounds to contribute to Ark's promising future.
