The British Geological Survey (BGS) presents a remarkable opportunity for a Non-Executive Director to join its board, ensuring that BGS operates in accordance with the governance framework established by NERC/UKRI, thereby maintaining high standards of organizational governance.
Your extensive sector experience and profound expertise will be essential in providing constructive support and critical challenge to the BGS Director and Senior Management Board. Additionally, you will offer guidance and insights on significant issues and policies as required.
As an advocate for BGS, your active participation in planning and evaluation initiatives, along with ad-hoc assignments, will be crucial.

BGS operates as a research center under the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and is part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). UKRI serves as a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.

Candidate Profile
We are seeking applications from qualified chartered or management accountants who possess a proven senior-level track record in a strategic finance role within the UK public or private sector.
Applicants should demonstrate significant project delivery experience at the board level in sectors relevant to BGS's work, along with the provision of strategic financial advice and leadership at a senior level, showcasing the ability to exercise sound judgment across a wide range of policy issues.
