The British Geological Survey (BGS) presents a unique opportunity for a Non-Executive Director to join its esteemed board. This role is pivotal in ensuring that BGS operates within the governance framework established by NERC/UKRI, thereby promoting exemplary organizational governance.
In this capacity, you will leverage your extensive sector experience and profound expertise to provide constructive support and challenge to the BGS Director and Senior Management Board. Your role will also encompass offering guidance on critical issues and policies as required.
As an advocate for BGS, you will engage actively in planning and evaluation activities, as well as undertake ad-hoc assignments that contribute to the organization's mission.

BGS operates as a research center under the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and is part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). UKRI serves as a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.

Candidate Profile
We invite applications from qualified chartered or management accountants who possess a proven senior-level track record in a strategic finance role within the UK public or private sector.
Successful candidates will demonstrate significant project delivery at the board level in sectors relevant to BGS's work, along with the provision of strategic financial advice and leadership at a senior level. The ability to exercise sound judgment across a wide range of policy issues is essential.
