Founded in 1977, Ark currently manages 450 tenancies and supports over 400 individuals through our committed team of more than 700 professionals. Our operations span across 12 Local Authority areas in the North and East of Scotland, with additional services in the Western Isles.
The Ark Group comprises three distinct entities:
- Ark, a registered charity and social landlord, serves as the parent organization within the group.
- A private company limited by guarantee, wholly owned by Ark.
- (ACIL), a private limited share company, also wholly owned by Ark.
We are currently seeking 2-3 individuals to join our parent Board, Ark Housing Association, as Non-Executive Directors during a pivotal phase for our organization. As we embark on the second year of our Corporate Strategy, we have established ambitious objectives aimed at developing and expanding our operations, supported by a comprehensive set of performance metrics. In your role as a Board Member, you will be instrumental in shaping and facilitating the execution of our business plan for the next 5-10 years, while enhancing our governance framework to effectively oversee performance. This focus will be directed towards delivering high-quality Housing and Care & Support services.
Ark Group Board
The Board convenes 6-7 times annually in a hybrid format, necessitating some in-person attendance. We encourage applications from candidates with experience in Care & Support or Housing/Asset management, and familiarity with governance in a registered social landlord context is advantageous, though not mandatory.
Ark Subsidiary Board
To bolster our governance, we are looking to appoint Non-Executive Directors to our Subsidiary Board, distinct from the Ark Group Board to ensure independence. This Board will consist of 5 or 6 members and will be chaired by an existing Ark Group Board member. Your responsibilities will include serving both subsidiary companies, with meetings held consecutively four times a year. This Board operates remotely, providing an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking their inaugural Board role, with exposure to two diverse organizations: one commercial/private and the other a registered charity. We will offer a comprehensive induction and mentorship from an experienced Board member, and prior Board experience is not a prerequisite. Overall, we are in search of dynamic, forward-thinking, and enthusiastic individuals from varied backgrounds to contribute to Ark's promising future.
