The Scottish Legal Complaints Commission (SLCC) is an independent statutory body responsible for handling complaints against legal practitioners in Scotland. We are seeking a non-lawyer member to join our Board, bringing their expertise and experience to help us deliver our functions effectively.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in the Board's decision-making process, contributing to the development of policies and strategies.
- Work collaboratively with other Board members to ensure effective governance and oversight of the SLCC's operations.
- Engage with stakeholders, including the public, legal professionals, and other regulatory bodies, to promote the SLCC's work and build relationships.
- Analyse complex information to make informed decisions, often in a remote or virtual setting.
- Experience in change delivery, with a proven track record of driving improvements in an organisation.
- Demonstrable understanding of the importance of effective communication in achieving organisational goals.
- Knowledge of working with vulnerable people, with a commitment to promoting their rights and interests.
- Ability to work constructively as part of a team, with a strong focus on collaboration and partnership working.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
The successful candidate will receive a daily remuneration of £223 for a time commitment of no more than 18 days per annum. Expenses incurred in carrying out the duties of the appointment will be reimbursed, including reasonable travel and subsistence costs, and dependant carer and childcare expenses.
