Position Overview

Our thriving department is comprised of Research Nurses, Physicians, and Administrative Professionals engaged in Clinical Research. We currently oversee approximately 50 Clinical trials ranging from Phase II to Phase IV. As a vital team member, you will perform a variety of administrative tasks essential for the smooth operation of our research initiatives.

The Research and Innovation division is seeking a Clinical Research Administrative Coordinator to deliver clerical assistance and support the Research Team in providing exceptional care to all research participants.

The successful candidate will offer outstanding administrative, organizational, and data management support to the Clinical Research Team.

We are looking for an individual with meticulous attention to detail, the ability to meet tight deadlines, and a strong commitment to customer service. You will collaborate with various teams within the organization to facilitate the execution of Clinical Trials.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate independently, managing and prioritizing your workload, overseeing office systems, maintaining databases, and preparing reports specific to the Research team.

- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients and visitors to the department, performing general reception duties.

- Prepare necessary research-related documentation and materials.

- Coordinate the shipment of pathology samples and electronic data for central review and reporting in accordance with research protocols.

- Collaborate with hospital staff on research-related matters.

- Process documents and maintain records for both staff and research purposes.

- Provide assistance as requested and undertake additional relevant duties as needed.

- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulations governing clinical trials.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Experience in an office setting
  • Proficiency in minute-taking
  • Competence in IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel
  • Ability to prioritize workload effectively
  • Experience in managing and processing Petty Cash expenses

Desirable

  • Previous experience within the NHS
  • Familiarity with International Conference on Harmonisation for Good Clinical Practice and relevant training
  • Knowledge of specialized R&D databases and systems such as OpenClinica and REDcap

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Experience in managing databases and spreadsheets with accurate data entry
  • Understanding of confidentiality implications and ability to handle sensitive patient information in accordance with Trust policies
  • Ability to exercise judgment in challenging and sensitive situations
  • Team-oriented mindset
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with colleagues and other departments

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Good general education to GCSE level, including English Language and Mathematics
  • RSA Stage II or equivalent qualification
