About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Practitioner Psychologist or Specialist Psychological Therapist to join our team at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified professional to take on a leadership role and contribute to the delivery of high-quality psychological services to individuals with complex mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist psychological therapy services to individuals, carers, families, and groups, adhering to best practice and trust care pathways.
  • Hold and manage a clinical caseload, exercising autonomous professional responsibility for assessment, treatment, and discharge of clients.
  • Take clinical leadership roles and supervise junior staff, including assistant psychologists, trainee psychologists, and other professionals.
  • Contribute to the development, evaluation, and monitoring of team operational policies and services, deploying professional skills in research, service evaluation, and audit.
  • Utilize research skills to undertake service evaluation, audit, and research, disseminating results within the service and nationally.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Recognized accredited postgraduate level training in a psychological therapy, as specified in the Appendix.
  • Postgraduate doctoral level training in applied psychology, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, and lifespan developmental psychology.
  • Professionally registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Substantial post-qualification experience of specialist psychological therapy, with a high level of competence in applying a psychological therapy to complex difficulties.
  • Experience of teaching, training, and supervision within a demanding organizational context.
  • Knowledge of guidance and legislation related to the client group.
  • High-level specialist knowledge of the theory and practice of specialist psychological therapy, as applied to the client group.
  • Experience of working with the full range of clinical severity served by the service.
