Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated professional to contribute to our innovative service focused on enhancing wellbeing and providing essential support within the community.

Compensation: NJC Grade 8 £30,296 - £33,024 per annum
Work Schedule: Full-time (37 hours per week), Monday - Friday
Employment Type: Fixed Term Contract/secondment until specified duration.
Work Locations: The role will involve working across various locations with a requirement for regular travel.

Responsibilities

Are you enthusiastic about fostering inclusion in educational settings? Are you driven to achieve positive outcomes for children and their families?

This role involves collaborating with children, young individuals, and their families to assess needs for additional support or guidance. You will utilize your psychological expertise across diverse educational environments.

All activities will be overseen by a qualified Educational Psychologist; depending on your experience, you may engage in joint efforts with an Educational Psychologist, collaborate with a colleague, or undertake tasks independently.

This position is ideal for those aspiring to pursue a postgraduate qualification in educational psychology.

Team Structure

Our service comprises multiple area teams that deliver the following core functions:

Assisting the Senior Mental Health lead in schools or colleges to implement or enhance a comprehensive approach. Providing evidence-based interventions for mild to moderate mental health challenges. Offering timely advice to educational staff and coordinating with external specialists to ensure children and young people receive appropriate support.

Our Educational Psychology Service is organized into several area teams, each managed by a Senior Educational Psychologist, providing a variety of support to educational institutions, including mental health assistance, consultation, and training.

Our leadership prioritizes the development and wellbeing of our team, offering comprehensive induction support, regular supervision, and dedicated time for peer collaboration.

Candidate Profile

Applicants should possess an Honours Degree in Psychology or an equivalent qualification that meets the Graduate Basis for Registration with the British Psychological Society.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about promoting mental health and emotional wellbeing, with a strong commitment to inclusive practices for children and young people.

If you are working towards your Educational Psychology qualification or have a background in applied psychology, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.

Additional Requirements

Ability to travel independently to various locations, which may not be easily accessible by public transport. A consistent requirement to communicate effectively in English with the public.

As a key component of the SEND and Inclusion service, the Educational Psychology Service supports the implementation of the Local Authority's wellbeing strategy and Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) strategy across educational settings, benefiting children, young people, and families.

We offer a range of evidence-based support services, including consultation and training, aimed at enhancing wellbeing in schools and other settings. Our programs include Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) training and support for Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA). Additionally, our team contributes to various services such as the Virtual School and specialist mental health services.
