Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Biostatistics and Health Economics to lead our team in creating and delivering next-generation commercialization services to the life sciences industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Lead a wide range of projects with a focus on biostatistics related to health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) and/or HTA, including indirect comparisons, propensity score matching, RWE, and clinical trial individual patient data analyses.
  • Operational and Business Development: Contribute to operational and business development initiatives, such as staffing projects, administering employee evaluations, performing hiring and capabilities presentations, and company strategy.
  • People Management: Delegate activities to, and supervise, junior staff and contractors, empower project team members to take positive action and accountability, identify and resolve issues/conflicts within project teams, provide effective mentorship to new employees, administer three-month reviews, summer check-ins, and annual reviews.
  • Client or Business Development: Lead development of proposals and deliver them to clients, develop own client base, lead all client meetings without senior support, support business development, seek feedback regarding client satisfaction.
  • Company Operations: Provide strategy leadership to help efficiently grow the biostatistics team, lead HEOR biostatistics thought leadership initiatives, oversee/implement quality control activities, identify the need for and development of best practices and tools for project execution, participate in hiring process, attend regular management meetings to discuss proposals, project status, staff allocation and needs.
Requirements
  • Education: MSc or PhD university degree in a medical- or mathematics-related field such as biology, epidemiology, pharmacology, health economics, or statistics.
  • Experience: 8 to 10 years of relevant work experience in health research, biostatistics, health economics, or a related field.
  • Skills: Strong understanding in HEOR statistics methods, proven track record for HEOR and evidence synthesis statistical methods, proven ability to problem solve with strong capabilities in identifying and implementing practical solutions, excellent understanding and practical use of coding language, most importantly being R code, experience creating business developments and/or proposal development, technically competent with Microsoft Office, strong attention to detail, excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, strong strategic, critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking capabilities, ability to lead project teams and client meetings, ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a sometimes high-pressure environment, ability to adapt to shifting internal and client-related priorities/timelines, ability to manage personal and project team members' time across multiple competing projects, ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, ability to effectively interact and communicate with peers, senior management, and clients, proven leadership, team-building, and mentoring skills, proven customer focus, with the ability to maintain strong business relationships with clients.
