Position: Lead Materials Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

- Execute designated local Materials and Processes signatory approvals as necessary.
- Manage Materials Governance specification system tasks across various sectors, including responding to queries, drafting specifications, and conducting reviews.
- Oversee supplier qualification and assurance processes, including technical audits and assessments of the external supply chain.
- Update operational documentation in accordance with Materials Engineering Governance.
- Address technical issues on the shop floor, providing formal responses to queries related to specifications, suppliers, procurement, and quality.
- Support quality investigations and corrective actions.
- Conduct reviews and updates of specifications, generate new standards, and assess manufacturing processes in line with design requirements.
- Continuously improve Materials Engineering policies and procedures.
- Develop evaluation plans for processes and materials, including facility qualifications and supplier capability demonstrations.


Required Skills and Experience:

Essential:
- Extensive experience in metallic materials manufacturing processes, preferably within the aerospace sector.
- Proficient in supplier assurance, auditing, and technical oversight of special processes.
- In-depth knowledge of metallic materials and their transformation into components.
- Familiarity with customer support, IT, personnel training, procurement, and project management.
- Understanding of airframe engineering, design, manufacturing, quality, and testing.

Desirable:
- Awareness of internal and external customer needs, including UK and international suppliers.
- Knowledge of welding techniques and advanced metallic manufacturing processes, including additive manufacturing.
- Relevant degree or professional qualification, although substantial experience may compensate for formal qualifications.
