Position: Lead Engineer for Metallic Materials Oversight

  • Executing designated local approvals for Materials and Processes as required.
  • Managing Materials Governance specification system tasks across various sectors, including responding to queries, writing specifications, and conducting reviews.
  • Overseeing supplier qualification and assurance, as well as performing technical audits and assessments of the external supply chain.
  • Updating operational documentation under the authority of Materials Engineering Governance.
  • Addressing technical issues on the shop floor, including formal responses to queries related to specifications, suppliers, procurement, and quality.
  • Supporting quality investigations and corrective actions.
  • Conducting reviews and updates of specifications, generating new standards, and reviewing manufacturing processes in accordance with design requirements.
  • Continuously improving Materials Engineering policies and procedures.
  • Creating evaluation test plans, facility qualification plans, and supplier approval demonstration plans, along with associated reports.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in metallic materials manufacturing processes, particularly in aerospace, along with supplier assurance and auditing expertise.
  • In-depth knowledge of metallic materials and their transformation into components.
  • Familiarity with customer support, IT, personnel training, procurement, and project management.
  • Understanding of various aspects of airframe engineering, design engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, and testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Awareness of internal and external customers, including UK and international suppliers and standards agencies.
  • Knowledge of welding techniques and advanced metallic manufacturing processes, including additive manufacturing.
  • A degree or equivalent professional qualification is preferred, though relevant experience and expertise may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
