We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced DBT Therapist to join our team at South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust. As a Senior DBT Therapist, you will play a key role in providing high-quality clinical services to our patients with Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder.
Key Responsibilities- Provide highly specialist assessments of clients referred to the service, utilizing complex data from various sources to inform treatment plans.
- Formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of clients' mental health problems, based on evidence-based practice and theoretical frameworks.
- Lead the decision-making process around treatment options, taking into account individual patients' historical context, current risks, needs, and goals.
- Supervise DBT therapists and contribute to the training and development of junior staff members.
- Collaborate with senior medical clinicians to review and manage psychopharmacological treatment plans.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with clients, their families, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
- Participate in risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and provide advice to other services on specialist risk assessment and management.
- Act as a care coordinator, initiating and reviewing care plans under enhanced CPA, and preparing reports for CPA meetings.
- Doctoral-level training in clinical or counselling psychology, as accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
- Core Mental Health Profession registration with an appropriate professional body (e.g., NMC, UKCP, HCPC).
- Formal training in DBT (to intensive level) with 2 years of supervised experience or evidence of completion of DBT training.
- Experience of working with adults with mental health problems in various community settings.
- Experience of multi-disciplinary team working, inter-agency working, and working with clients with a diagnosis of personality disorder.
- Post-registration qualification in group work, Group Analytic training, or working towards such.
- Accreditation in DBT or working towards accreditation in supervision in DBT.
- Generic Supervision training.
- Trust training in medications: medication awareness and medication management (if appropriate to your professional registration).
