Role Overview

The Junior Technical Support Specialist role aids the Department of Psychology in providing exceptional teaching and research services by delivering specialized support within a scientific setting. Responsibilities include completing compliance checklists related to Health and Safety regulations and assisting with various technical tasks. The role holder will collaborate with senior staff to understand the array of technical services available in the department while also pursuing a Level 3 apprenticeship standard in Software Development Technician. 1. Five GCSEs at Grade C or level four (or equivalent), including English Language and Mathematics, or equivalent experience.

Specific Role Requirements

This position includes attending off-the-job training for a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Software Development Technician for one day per week with a local training provider. This apprenticeship program will span two years.

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship and meeting performance criteria, the position may transition to a permanent Assistant Technician role at Grade 3.
