About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Chef to join our Secondary catering team at Kettering Science Academy. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the culinary operations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality food to students and staff across our four schools within the Brooke Weston Trust.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Catering Manager in all aspects of food preparation, food service, kitchen and canteen hygiene, and teaching opportunities with students in a busy and demanding environment.
  • Develop and implement menus that meet the dietary needs of students and staff, while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Lead a team of kitchen staff and provide guidance and support to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen.
  • Collaborate with the Catering Manager to plan and implement catering services for school events and functions.
  • Monitor and control kitchen costs, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing waste.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a school catering environment or similar setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent culinary skills, with a focus on quality, safety, and presentation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain a high level of professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, staff, and external partners.
