About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Chef to join our Secondary catering team at Kettering Science Academy. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the culinary operations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality food to students and staff across our four schools within the Brooke Weston Trust.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Catering Manager in all aspects of food preparation, food service, kitchen and canteen hygiene, and teaching opportunities with students in a busy and demanding environment.
- Develop and implement menus that meet the dietary needs of our students and staff, while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Lead a team of kitchen staff and provide guidance and support to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen.
- Collaborate with the Catering Manager to plan and implement catering services for school events and functions.
- Monitor and control kitchen costs, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing waste.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a school catering environment or similar setting.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Excellent culinary skills and knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, staff, and external partners.
