Head of Air Traffic Control

Arden White Aerospace and Aviation Recruitment is currently collaborating with an airport in the search for a Director of Air Traffic Operations.
The Director will be responsible for overseeing the secure and effective functioning of Air Traffic Services, ensuring adherence to all regulatory standards.
This role reports directly to the Operations Director and is crucial for maintaining the safety and efficiency of Air Traffic Services within the airport's vicinity and surrounding airspace.
This position offers a competitive salary, and the primary responsibilities include:
- Policy Development: Create and uphold policies and procedures to effectively manage the Air Traffic operations, including monitoring and reporting on Significant Safety Critical Events (SCEs), Quality Management Systems (QMS), Just Culture, and Best Practices.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with relevant regulatory requirements.
- Safety Management: Implement and sustain the Safety Management System (SMS) within Air Traffic Control, including conducting Gap Analysis to formulate SMS strategies.
- Staff Training: Identify and guarantee that Air Traffic Control personnel are adequately trained, qualified, and competent in their roles.
- Accountability: Hold Air Traffic Control staff accountable for their safety performance.
- Staffing Management: Maintain an acceptable and compliant staffing level during operational hours, adhering to working time restrictions set by regulatory bodies.
- Liaison Role: Act as the primary contact with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regarding Air Traffic Services.
- Engineering Oversight: Serve as the main point of contact for all matters related to Air Traffic Control engineering and maintenance.
- Resource Management: Establish necessary resources and financial controls to operate a compliant Air Traffic function.
- Meeting Participation: Engage in airport meetings as required.
- Reporting: Report any Air Traffic Services safety issues to the Operations Director promptly.
- Accountable Management: Serve as the accountable manager for providing services in accordance with operational documents.
- Provider Approval: Approve the Engineering Manager of contracted providers.
- Project Notification: Inform the Engineering Manager of any proposed projects or developments that may affect Air Traffic Services equipment.
- Training Assurance: Ensure that contracted personnel responsible for Air Traffic Control receive appropriate training as per the contracted provider's training and competency scheme.
