Position Summary: The Head of Air Traffic Services is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient functioning of Air Traffic Services, ensuring adherence to all regulatory standards.

Accountability: This role reports directly to the Operations Director, with a focus on maintaining safety and efficiency in Air Traffic Services operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and uphold policies and procedures to effectively manage the Air Traffic operation, including monitoring Significant Safety Critical Events (SCEs), Quality Management Systems (QMS), Just Culture, and Best Practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and sustain the Safety Management System (SMS) within Air Traffic Control, including conducting Gap Analysis to develop the SMS strategy.
  • Identify and ensure that Air Traffic Control personnel are adequately trained, qualified, and competent in their roles.
  • Hold Air Traffic Control staff accountable for their safety performance.
  • Maintain an acceptable staffing level during operational hours, adhering to working time restrictions.
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies regarding Air Traffic Services.
  • Serve as the main contact for all aspects of Air Traffic Control engineering and maintenance.
  • Establish necessary resources and financial controls to operate a compliant Air Traffic function.
  • Participate in relevant airport meetings as required.
  • Report any safety issues related to Air Traffic Services to the Operations Director promptly.
  • Serve as the accountable manager for providing services in accordance with operational documents.
  • Approve the Engineering Manager for contracted providers.
  • Notify the Engineering Manager of any proposed projects or developments that may affect Air Traffic Services equipment.
  • Ensure that contracted personnel responsible for Air Traffic Control receive appropriate training according to the provider's training and competency scheme.
