Role & Responsibilities

The Sussex Police Force Research Bureau is an operational unit that supports law enforcement and partner organizations. We are in search of a skilled Supervisor with recent experience in managing teams that execute multifaceted processes to provide critical information to support policing and stakeholders around the clock.

Your leadership will be vital in managing, supporting, and optimizing team performance, attendance, and conduct.

This role requires expertise in national systems utilized by the team for data collection, including the ability to audit activities and report any issues.

Our mission is to identify and safeguard vulnerable individuals, prevent crime, and respond to threats to public safety.

The Force Research team handles substantial workloads across various requests and applications, and as a Supervisor, you will oversee these activities.

Key Duties Include:

  • Serving as a subject matter expert on Force Research services and the utilization of National and Local Police Systems.
  • Conducting audits of National systems and reporting any findings to management.
  • Collaborating with partner agencies, business associates, custody centers, and Sussex Police personnel across all ranks, providing necessary support and guidance.
  • Maximizing staff potential and managing performance, attendance, and personnel issues.
  • Ensuring compliance with legislation, Police and Home Office policies, GDPR, and the Data Protection Act.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this position, you must demonstrate recent experience in managing a team at a first-line supervisory level.

Experience in navigating and utilizing extensive information from various systems, along with decision-making skills regarding identified information and associated risks, is essential.

Strong interpersonal skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication abilities, are crucial.

A proven capacity for problem-solving with solutions that align with stakeholder needs while adhering to GDPR, legal standards, and policy frameworks is required.

Effective organizational and planning skills, with the ability to work under pressure and adapt in a dynamic environment, are necessary.

Experience in managing performance issues and providing proactive support for team welfare is important.

Assessing, prioritizing, and allocating daily work within the team while identifying key priorities is part of the role.

The Supervisor will have the authority to direct teams to priority tasks and will produce clear and accurate written reports, necessitating strong communication skills.
