Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Community Rowing Instructor to enhance our Leisure division.

Reporting Structure:

This role reports directly to the Head of Rowing.

Contract Type:

Permanent, Part-Time
Work Schedule: 15 hours per week

Compensation: £33,536 pro-rated

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the maintenance of the rowing fleet.
  • Keep detailed service records for equipment.
  • Oversee the upkeep of the indoor rowing tank.
  • Manage the servicing of rowing machines.
  • Support facility management, including health and safety assessments.
  • Coach various indoor and outdoor rowing sessions for adults and juniors, including beginners and competitive squads.
  • Design session plans tailored to the participants' skill levels and objectives.
  • Maintain attendance records and monitor individual progress.
  • Deliver scheduled coaching sessions with a clear progression framework.

Candidate Profile:

  • Understanding of health and safety considerations in rowing and coaching.
  • Knowledge of rowing techniques and sculling.
  • Experience coaching diverse groups of varying abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with colleagues, young people, and the public through various methods.
  • Proficient in IT, particularly Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Skilled in managing group dynamics to ensure enjoyable and inclusive sessions.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices for vulnerable populations.
  • Familiarity with fleet maintenance and relevant practical skills.
  • Possession of a Level 2 NGB qualification in rowing or actively pursuing one.
  • Level 2 RYA powerboat qualification is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as necessary.
