Reporting Structure:

This role reports to the Head of Rowing.

Contract Type:

Permanent, Part-Time (15 hours per week)

Compensation:

£33,536 pro-rated

Role Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will be responsible for coaching various adult and junior community rowing sessions while assisting with the maintenance of the fleet and facilities. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about rowing and experienced in coaching diverse age groups and skill levels, aiming to increase participation and nurture pathways for aspiring athletes.

Main Duties:

  • Support the boatman with fleet upkeep.
  • Maintain equipment service logs.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the indoor rowing tank.
  • Ensure the upkeep and servicing of rowing machines.
  • Assist with facility management, including health and safety evaluations.
  • Coach a range of indoor and river-based sessions for various skill levels.
  • Design sessions tailored to the participants' abilities and goals.
  • Keep attendance records.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of individual rowers.
  • Deliver scheduled sessions and courses with a clear developmental progression plan.

General Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with your line manager to identify personal support needs and pursue ongoing professional development.
  • Adhere to Enable's codes of conduct, including policies regarding data protection, health and safety, and safeguarding.
  • Commit to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion for all, including colleagues and clients.
  • Create and maintain a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment where everyone is treated with respect.
  • Ensure data security in accordance with data protection laws and Enable's procedures.
  • Be knowledgeable about safeguarding principles as they relate to children and vulnerable adults.
  • Perform other reasonable duties that contribute to the team's overall function.
  • Assist with any events or activities organized by Enable.

Candidate Profile:

  • Understanding of health and safety considerations in rowing and coaching.
  • Knowledge of rowing and sculling techniques.
  • Experience coaching small to large groups of varying abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with diverse individuals through various methods.
  • Strong IT skills, proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant software.
  • Able to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to manage behavior to ensure enjoyable and inclusive sessions.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable individuals and a commitment to integrity.
  • Familiarity with fleet maintenance and relevant practical skills.
  • Possession of a level 2 NGB qualification in rowing or working towards it.
  • Level 2 RYA powerboat qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
