Crisis Intervention Specialist

Nuneaton, Warwickshire, United Kingdom Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust Full time

Position Overview

We are excited to announce a new opportunity within our expanding children's crisis and home treatment team, offering a band 7 practitioner position. We prioritize a healthy work-life balance, providing flexible working arrangements and options for compressed hours.

We seek a dedicated and proactive registered professional to join our collaborative multi-disciplinary team, committed to delivering exceptional care for children and young people (CYP) in the Coventry and Warwickshire area. Our team comprises Mental Health Nurses, Pediatric Nurses, Learning Disability Nurses, Social Workers, and Occupational Therapists.

We provide a comprehensive support package for our staff, including regular supervision, training and shadowing opportunities, and wellbeing initiatives.

The Crisis and Home Treatment model is integral to our Tier service provision, focusing on high-risk management pathways to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions and facilitate safe discharges from inpatient care. Our goal is to ensure that CYP receive the least restrictive care tailored to their needs. The team is undergoing a transformation, evolving from the Acute Liaison model to a fully integrated Crisis and Home Treatment approach, ensuring a seamless response to crises regardless of the access point.

If you are interested in learning more about this role or would like to meet our team, please reach out for an informal discussion.

Key Responsibilities

Your daily responsibilities will vary based on the needs of the young people you support. You will conduct assessments, provide short-term interventions for CYP in crisis, and facilitate referrals to additional services. Your role will involve delivering mental health care to CYP and their families in accordance with local and national guidelines. Care will be provided in various settings, including community clinics, acute hospital wards, homes, and educational environments.

Our team operates from 8 am to 8 pm, Monday through Sunday, with staggered shift patterns that can be discussed during the interview process. The role requires some flexibility, including overnight on-call support for the adult crisis team, which manages helpline calls during off-hours.

This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with experienced Crisis Practitioners and play a vital role in a system-wide approach, working alongside Commissioners, Acute Trusts, and the RISE Leadership Team. You will contribute to shaping and evolving a service model that enhances care and treatment for CYP in crisis, while also providing support to team members at bands 2-6.

For further details about this role, please refer to the attached support information, which provides a comprehensive overview of the position and its requirements.

About Our Organization

Our offerings include:

  • Generous annual leave that increases with tenure
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Extensive learning and development opportunities, including apprenticeship frameworks, distance learning, internal training, coaching, and mentoring
