Role Overview:

As a Senior Financial Strategy Partner, you will lead and oversee a dedicated finance team responsible for delivering comprehensive financial guidance to various departments and budget managers.

Your role will require you to stay informed about the latest legislative and professional standards related to capital management, technical accounting advancements, taxation, and treasury functions. You will be responsible for communicating these developments to relevant stakeholders, including senior management and elected officials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Group Accountant to develop Service Budgets that align with the organization’s priority-driven budgeting framework.
  • Oversee the budget profiling process and prepare detailed forecasting reports.
  • Lead the coordination of account closure activities related to departmental expenditures.
  • Provide strategic advice on cost efficiencies and assist Service Areas in achieving their financial targets and savings.
  • Work alongside senior management to support the formulation of the organization’s capital strategy.
  • Drive initiatives for performance enhancement, integrating financial management with performance metrics and risk assessment to ensure the generation and analysis of high-quality management information.
  • Effectively manage the Finance Business Partnering Team, fostering a productive and safe work environment that promotes continuous learning and improvement.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive Salary: £50,000 - £57,000

Candidate Profile:

  1. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in financial management at a senior level within a large, complex organization.
  2. CCAB qualified.
  3. Proven expertise in all facets of financial operations, with the ability to provide high-level advisory support on financial matters.
  4. Thorough understanding of current and emerging government legislation and statutory regulations impacting the public sector.
  5. Strong awareness of the political landscape affecting local government operations, with experience in managing sensitive issues.
  6. Ability to analyze complex financial data and communicate findings effectively.
  7. Experience working at both operational and strategic levels, utilizing information systems proficiently.
  8. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the capacity to provide clear and balanced guidance.
  9. Innovative thinker with a track record of developing practical solutions to intricate financial and organizational challenges.
  10. Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams to achieve cross-sector initiatives.
  11. Proven ability to mentor and develop staff to enhance their professional growth.
