About Devon County Council

Devon County Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Approved Mental Health Practitioner to join our team. As a key member of our out-of-hours service, you will play a vital role in providing essential support to individuals in need.

Job Summary

We are looking for a registered qualified professional with extensive knowledge of complex legislation, including the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Care Act, and Children Act. You will be responsible for undertaking MHA assessments, working independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake MHA assessments and provide support to individuals in need
  • Work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive service
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare professionals and social care teams
  • Contribute to the development of new service models and initiatives
  • Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to the development of the team

Requirements

  • Registered qualified professional (Social Work, Nurse, OT, psychologist)
  • Currently authorised as an AMHP (Post-Grad Certificate in Mental Health)
  • Extensive knowledge of complex legislation, including the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Care Act, and Children Act
  • Valid driving licence
  • Experience of working independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
