Devon, United Kingdom Devon County Council Full time

Devon County Council is looking for dedicated Approved Mental Health Professionals to enhance our Exeter service.

(We welcome applications for part-time positions as well.)

About Us

In light of our recent innovative restructuring, we are thrilled to introduce a groundbreaking model for our out-of-hours mental health services. The out-of-hours AMHP Service plays a crucial role in responding to urgent assessment requests under the Mental Health Act. This includes effectively triaging and prioritizing workloads to ensure compliance with statutory obligations.
Our specialized out-of-hours AMHP service collaborates with a distinct Emergency Duty Service (EDS), addressing both Children and Adult referrals through a unified social care team.
This revamped service was launched to implement specialized models for our core EDS services (Adults, Children, and Mental Health), aiming to enhance collaborative efforts.
This initiative is backed by significant investment and increased staffing to improve the quality of service for residents in Devon. The expansion of AMHPs and the introduction of AMHP managers during out-of-hours will foster a more supportive work environment and enhance our capacity to meet the growing demand for this vital service.

Rota Structure

The successful candidate will operate on an 8-week rolling rota, which includes two consecutive weeks off during each cycle. The shift pattern encompasses weekday evenings, weekend, and Bank Holiday shifts, both day and night.
This arrangement allows for two consecutive weeks off each cycle, with annual leave and bank holiday entitlements integrated into the rota. This structure enables an average of 13 weeks off annually.
Each of the six scheduled working weeks includes between two to five days off, with every week featuring two consecutive days off. Contracted hours will also cover attendance at team meetings, supervisions, training, and other essential tasks during standard office hours.
