Devon, United Kingdom Devon County Council Full time

Devon County Council is seeking full-time Approved Mental Health Professionals to enhance our Exeter Team.

(Applications for part-time positions will also be welcomed.)

About Us

We are thrilled to introduce a groundbreaking model for our out-of-hours services within Devon County Council. The out-of-hours AMHP Service plays a crucial role in responding to urgent assessment requests under the Mental Health Act. This involves effectively triaging and prioritizing workloads to ensure timely assessments in accordance with statutory obligations.
Our newly established specialist out-of-hours AMHP service collaborates with a distinct Emergency Duty Service (EDS), which addresses referrals for both Children and Adults in a joint social care team during out-of-hours periods.
This revamped service, initiated recently, aims to implement specialized service models across our three core EDS sectors (Adults, Children, and Mental Health), fostering improved and streamlined partnership efforts.
Significant investments and staffing enhancements have been made to elevate the quality of service provided to the residents of Devon. The expansion of AMHPs and the introduction of AMHP managers during out-of-hours will cultivate a more supportive work environment and enhance our capacity to meet the growing demand for this vital service.

Rota Structure

The successful candidate will operate on an 8-week rolling rota, which includes two consecutive weeks off in each cycle. The shift pattern encompasses weekday evenings, weekend, and Bank Holiday shifts, both day and night.
To facilitate two consecutive weeks off in each cycle, annual leave and bank holiday entitlements are integrated into the rota. This structure allows for an average of 13 weeks off per year.
Each of the six scheduled working weeks will feature between two to five days off, with each week including two consecutive days off. Post holders will have designated hours for team meetings, supervision, training, and other essential tasks during standard office hours.
