Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our team at the University of New Hampshire. As a Sr. Decision Scientist, you will play a key role in leveraging data science to drive strategic initiatives, improve operational efficiency, and help achieve the institution's goals and mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership, institutional research, admissions, marketing, student financial services, and the office of the registrar to inform strategic decisions and identify opportunities for efficiency and growth.
  • Use internal and external data sources, predictive modeling, machine learning, AI, and other analytic techniques to drive data-driven decision making.
  • Lead innovative projects that address the multiple challenges facing higher education today and enable university leaders to assess which directions will have the greatest impact on achieving the university's strategic goals and mission.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the institution to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and best practices in data science and analytics to continuously improve processes and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in data analytics, statistics, economics, data science, or relevant quantitative or empirical research field.
  • Two or more years of relevant experience in data science, analytics, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in utilizing data analytic tools for prediction, modeling, and assessment.
  • Experience using data visualization tools to communicate complex analytical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Understanding of database systems and data manipulation techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex analytical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with academic and business leaders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong attention to detail, thoroughness, and follow through.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
