Job Overview

This is a fixed-term role to cover maternity leave, providing an opportunity to work as a Specialist Biomedical Scientist in a dynamic environment.

The successful candidate will possess a specialist diploma from the Institute of Biomedical Science and have experience in processing biological samples, including blood, urine, faeces, cerebral spinal fluid, and other tissues.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  1. To process biological samples with precision and accuracy, taking personal responsibility for the quality and authorization of results.
  2. To possess highly developed specialist scientific skills, including complex manual, semi-automated, and automated analytical techniques.
  3. To plan and prioritize workload, ensuring efficient use of resources and meeting turnaround times.
  4. To use statistical packages to monitor quality control trends and analyze data for various Immunology machines.
  5. To demonstrate knowledge of the pathology of autoimmune disorders and participate in the Institute of Biomedical Sciences CPD scheme.
  6. To use statistical packages for interpretation of quality controls and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • State registration with the Health Care Professions Council as a Biomedical Scientist.
  • Educated to BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences or a degree acceptable to the Institute of Biomedical Sciences and the Health Care Professions Council.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory information systems and health and safety issues relating to laboratory activity.
