About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Scientist to join our team as Deputy Head of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the laboratory, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to patients and healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on transplant immunology and histocompatibility to healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Develop and implement clinical policies and guidelines for transplantation in accordance with current guidelines and best practice.
  • Lead the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives to ensure the laboratory meets national standards and accreditation requirements.
  • Supervise and manage a team of laboratory staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality services.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain all appropriate national standards, including maintenance of accreditation by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service and participation in appropriate EQA schemes.
  • Validate laboratory reports and provide interpretative comments as required.
  • Participate in research and development projects related to the provision of histocompatibility and immunogenetics services.
  • Develop and implement R&D projects related to the provision of histocompatibility and immunogenetics services, developing and promoting collaborative studies with service users and other bodies.
Requirements
  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists in Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics.
  • PhD degree in transplantation or relevant science.
  • Significant demonstrable experience and advanced proven knowledge in transplant immunology, histocompatibility & immunogenetics and disease association.
  • Extensive post HCPC registration experience as a Clinical Scientist in Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics.
