Position Overview

This role is situated within the Surgery & Cancer division, specifically on Ward 12, which encompasses two specialized units: the Surgical Specialties Ward (SSW) and the Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU).

We are looking for a committed nurse who is passionate about providing exceptional nursing care, ensuring a positive experience for patients. Strong communication skills are essential, as is the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and occasionally demanding environment, which can be both fulfilling and stimulating.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be an experienced healthcare professional proficient in comprehensive care planning, capable of executing a diverse array of clinical skills. This includes areas of specialized clinical knowledge and guidance within the team, particularly in infection control, by collaborating effectively with colleagues to meet the needs of patients and their families.

The role also involves active participation in leadership, education, development, and supervision of the nursing team.

Job Duties

- Conduct thorough assessments of patient nursing requirements, planning, implementing, and evaluating care in response to evolving healthcare needs.

- Provide clinical expertise, advice, and support in a specialized area of practice to enhance the overall care delivered by the team.

- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and agencies to ensure comprehensive patient care.

- Engage patients and their families in the care process, offering reassurance and support to facilitate understanding and cooperation.

- Prepare clinical environments for safe practice, ensuring cleanliness and readiness of materials and equipment.

- Facilitate patient transfers as directed by the multidisciplinary team.

- Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.

- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, collecting and reporting relevant information.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Valid registration with the UK nursing regulatory body.

  • Previous experience within the NHS.
