Position Overview

We are seeking a Band 5 Clinical Speech Therapist to become a vital member of our acute healthcare team. This role is suitable for both newly qualified professionals and those with prior experience in the field.

The ideal candidate will be a thoughtful practitioner who thrives in collaborative environments and possesses strong organizational, time management, and communication abilities.

We offer consistent support and mentorship, clinical supervision, and opportunities for professional growth through various training programs.

There may also be potential for involvement in outpatient clinical practice focusing on ENT and voice disorders for those interested.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will include delivering a dedicated Speech and Language Therapy service across both acute and community hospital settings, working collaboratively within the Speech and Language Therapy team.

You will engage with colleagues and other professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Your work will involve assisting a diverse patient population in a hospital environment, addressing needs related to stroke recovery, general medical conditions, frailty, and ENT issues.

Additionally, you will consult with colleagues for specialized insights, including conducting video fluoroscopy assessments.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • HCPC registration.
  • Recognized qualification in Speech and Language Therapy (degree or equivalent).
  • Experience working with adults facing various communication challenges and utilizing diverse assessment methods.
  • Knowledge of clinical information access methods and evidence-based patient interventions.
  • CPD portfolio relevant to the position.

Desirable:

  • Experience in an acute hospital environment.
  • Collaboration with other agencies and professional groups.
  • Bedside assessment experience for dysphagia.
  • Familiarity with NHS strategies and audits.
