This position involves a dual focus within our newly launched Ascend service (Sexual Abuse and Assault Pathway) and our Complex Trauma pathway in East Staffordshire. The Ascend service is a collaborative effort involving Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, North Staffordshire Combined NHS Trust, voluntary and community sector organizations, and local law enforcement. The Complex Trauma pathway is managed by MPFT throughout the South Staffordshire region, catering to adults aged 16 and above who have endured multiple traumatic experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the appropriateness of new referrals, determining the best service fit for each individual.
  • Develop, implement, and review personalized therapy plans for clients transitioning between Primary and Secondary services.
  • Participate in inter-service meetings regarding referrals.
  • Collaborate with various health and social care professionals concerning referrals.
  • Foster and maintain connections with services across the Trust to ensure effective coordination of Psychological Therapies Services.
  • Offer expert guidance to other professionals from the Trust and community organizations regarding our therapeutic services.
  • Contribute to the education and training of mental health professionals and other staff within the service.

Essential Skills

Strong communication abilities and sound clinical judgment are crucial for this role, as you will be facilitating referrals between primary and secondary sectors within the complex trauma pathway.

The ideal candidate will join a team of CBT/EMDR Therapists and Assistant Psychologists, focusing exclusively on clients dealing with sexual abuse complex trauma. You will be tasked with evaluating client suitability and delivering evidence-based, trauma-informed interventions.

We welcome applications from BABCP accredited CBT Therapists with a minimum of two years of qualification and substantial clinical experience working with trauma-affected individuals. Training in EMDR and/or experience in secondary care mental health services is advantageous, as is experience or training in providing clinical supervision.

The service operates core hours from 9 AM to 5 PM but offers therapy sessions for clients from 8 AM to 8 PM, Monday to Friday, with potential Saturday morning sessions in the future. The successful candidates should be willing to work flexibly to accommodate service needs during these hours. Approximately 50% of the workweek will be office-based, while the remaining 50% can be conducted remotely across South Staffordshire.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Completion of a Post Graduate Diploma in CBT.
  • Significant experience as a psychological therapy practitioner, demonstrating the required competencies.
  • BABCP Accreditation.

Desirable

  • Relevant experience in Primary Care addressing anxiety and depression.
