Speech and Language Communication Support Assistant

Focus on Speech, Language, and Communication Needs

Our educational institutions are witnessing an increasing demand for specialized assistance within the classroom environment. We are seeking a qualified professional who can deliver effective Speech, Language, and Communication (SLCN) support in a mainstream Primary setting.

  • Working Hours: Full-time, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Compensation: £15 per hour
  • Location: Hyndburn

The successful candidate will be required to:

Collaborate with the Class Teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support for students during instructional periods.

Conduct speech, language, and communication interventions either individually or in small groups.

Establish a strong, positive rapport with students and their families, promoting a cooperative approach.

Utilize alternative communication strategies and demonstrate flexibility in their application.

Implement appropriate behavioral strategies while maintaining a composed demeanor.

Exhibit genuine empathy, patience, and a passion for assisting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Maintain a positive and solution-oriented mindset, ensuring that each child can reach their full potential.

Possess a solid understanding of various special educational needs.

Be committed to making a meaningful difference in the educational experiences of children.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have experience supporting children or young adults with speech challenges or additional communication requirements.

A strong understanding of alternative communication methods is essential.

Experience and confidence in managing challenging behaviors are required.

A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is necessary.

An Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service is mandatory.

A comprehensive understanding of Child Safeguarding practices is essential.

All stated pay rates include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This position is temporary, with the potential for a permanent role in the future.
