Job Description

Job Title: SCLN Teaching Assistant

Location: Hyndburn

Job Type: Temporary

Hours: Full-time 8:30am – 3:30pm

Pay: £13.50

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced individual to provide Speech, Language and Communication (SLCN) support within a mainstream Primary classroom. The successful candidate will work alongside the Class Teacher and SENCO to provide support for the children during curriculum time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide SLCN support to children in a mainstream Primary classroom
  • Work alongside the Class Teacher and SENCO to develop and implement individualized support plans
  • Deliver speech, language and communication interventions 1:1 or in small groups
  • Build strong, positive relationships with children and their families
  • Explore alternative communication methods and be adaptable to doing this
  • Implement relevant behavior strategies, whilst maintaining a calm approach
  • Have genuine empathy, patience and a passion for working with and supporting children with SEMH
  • Be positive and solution-focused, ensuring the child can achieve their potential
  • Have a good understanding of different special educational needs

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young adults with either speech impediments or additional communication needs
  • Strong knowledge of alternative communication needs
  • Experience and confidence in facing some challenging behavior
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service
  • An excellent understanding of Safeguarding Children
