Position Overview
AWE is seeking a Theoretical Physicist to become a vital member of our Design Physics Group. This role presents a unique opportunity to engage in research and development that directly supports national security initiatives, tackling some of the most compelling challenges in physics.

Location:
Aldermaston, West Berkshire. We offer complimentary onsite parking and are conveniently situated between major transport hubs.

Role Responsibilities
As a Theoretical Physicist, your primary responsibilities will include:
1. Conducting research and developing innovative solutions to intricate multi-physics challenges.
2. Supporting R&D efforts that significantly influence technical specializations.
3. Troubleshooting technical issues and providing assistance to colleagues and clients.
4. Collaborating with external partners, including international and academic institutions.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in physics and mathematics, complemented by an inquisitive mindset. A degree in Physics, Mathematics, or a related discipline is essential, with postgraduate qualifications such as MPhys, MSc, or PhD being advantageous.

Willingness to travel internationally for project-related work is expected. While not mandatory, experience in the following areas will enhance your application:
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Fortran, or Python.
- Knowledge of numerical methods for computational fluid dynamics.
- Experience in developing and applying mathematical models to complex physical scenarios.
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate technical requirements clearly.
