Location and CompensationOur facility is conveniently situated with complimentary onsite parking.
- Junior Physicists (recent graduates): £31,000 - £35,000 (based on qualifications and experience)

The Design Physics Group enhances theoretical and modeling capabilities to deepen the understanding of intricate physical processes related to nuclear weapon functionality, while applying these insights to current and future product designs.
Utilizing advanced multi-physics software, the team models hydrodynamics, radiation transport, and nuclear phenomena, leveraging a variety of experimental data to validate predictions.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting research and developing solutions for complex multi-physics challenges.
- Supporting R&D efforts that have a significant impact within the technical domain.
The role of Theoretical Research Specialist requires collaboration within a team as well as independent research, necessitating a robust background in physics and mathematics, coupled with a curious mindset.
Applicants should possess:
- A degree in Physics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Postgraduate qualifications such as MPhys, MSc, or PhD are advantageous.
Willingness to travel internationally for project-related work is expected.
Technical SkillsProficiency in programming languages such as C++, Fortran, Python, or similar high-level languages is essential.
Experience in:
- Developing and applying mathematical models to intricate physics scenarios.
- Working within a Unix/Linux environment.
