Position Overview
AWE is seeking a Theoretical Physicist to become a vital member of our Design Physics Group. This role presents an exciting opportunity to engage in research and development that directly supports national security initiatives, tackling some of the most compelling challenges in physics.

Aldermaston, West Berkshire.

Role Responsibilities
As a Theoretical Physicist, your responsibilities will include:
1. Conducting research and developing innovative techniques to address complex multi-physics challenges.
2. Supporting research and development efforts that have significant implications in the technical domain.
3. Troubleshooting technical issues and providing assistance to colleagues and clients.
4. Actively engaging in collaborative projects with external partners, including international and academic institutions.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in physics and mathematics, complemented by an inquisitive mindset. A degree in Physics, Mathematics, or a related field is required, with postgraduate qualifications such as MPhys, MSc, or PhD being advantageous. Willingness to travel internationally for project-related work is expected.

Desirable Skills
While not mandatory, experience in the following areas will enhance your application:
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Fortran, or Python.
- Knowledge of numerical methods applicable to computational fluid dynamics.
- Experience in developing and applying mathematical models to intricate physics problems.
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate technical requirements effectively.
