Position Overview

The individual in this role will collaborate closely with the healthcare team to address patient needs, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures while effectively managing their own responsibilities to achieve the practice's objectives and vision.

The individual will oversee the daily operational activities of the patient services team, providing both administrative and clinical assistance to the Practice Clinical Team. As a key member of the management team, the individual will play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction and overall management of the practice.

Key Responsibilities

The individual will lead a team of Patient Services Advisors and Care Coordinators to provide a high-quality, diverse, and patient-focused service.

About Our Organization

Our practice serves a patient population of approximately 12,700, with growth over the past decade primarily due to natural demographic changes and community development. The practice is situated in a spacious area, predominantly rural, allowing us to cater to a wide geographical range.

The facility is conveniently located near the town center, housed in a modern building adjacent to a community hospital that offers a comprehensive array of services and maintains a high standard of care.

Our team consists of 5 Partner GPs, 1 Practice Manager, 4 Salaried GPs, and 2 GP Registrars. The Clinical Team includes 3 Nurse Practitioners, 1 Mental Health Nurse, 2 Clinical Pharmacists, and 1 Prescribing Technician, supported by a Treatment Room team comprising a Clinical Manager, 3 Practice Nurses, 1 Health Care Assistant, and 2 Trainee Nurse Associates.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications

Essential

A solid educational background equivalent to GCE/GCSE/NVQ level 2 or relevant experience in support services. Proficient in office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Outlook) and IT systems. A minimum of two years of supervisory experience or the ability to demonstrate effective team leadership skills. Experience in providing clinical support within a healthcare setting is preferred. Familiarity with clinical systems is advantageous. Strong customer service skills and experience in a patient-facing role are essential. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Capability to compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data. Ability to maintain composure when interacting with challenging or distressed individuals. Commitment to health and safety, equal opportunities, and non-discriminatory practices. Understanding of confidentiality requirements and compliance with service protocols. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Experience in a public sector or healthcare environment is a plus. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Capacity to motivate teams to achieve objectives. Proactive in anticipating potential issues. Ability to assert oneself while remaining courteous and patient. Competence in working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
